Jamie McLean Band Rocks Gramercy Theatre: Photos

from Richard Uznanski, Louise Uznanski, Holley Dey

Were you there?

The Jamie McLean Band rocked the room on Friday night at New York’s Gramercy Theatre.  The bandleader impressed on vocals and a searing guitar, Ben Mars grooved on bass and sweet vocal harmonies, and Brian Griffin ruled the beat, as special guest Jason Crosby let loose on the keys and fiddle.  It was a show that felt good going down, and all the way home.  Here’s a look at the sweat, the smiles, and the players that completely made our night.

Slideshow is set to “Best I’ve Ever Known” from the Band’s 2011 album Time of My Life.

Jamie and the band tour the east coast during February and March; tour dates and locations are here.  Jamie McLean Band discography, album sales and free live download tracks are here.  If you missed On Tap’s recent interview with Jamie McLean, it is here.  If you missed the Gramercy show, well, we know you won’t let it happen again.

  1. Breathtaking captures of amazing musicians who are really “into the music” — no wonder Taylor adapts to JM’s band so easily! And thanks to you guys for sharing your musical journey with us!

Jamie and the boys always put on a great show, and even though school commitments prohibited me from seeing this one, I sure felt like I was there from your great description and slide show. I especially love the series of pics of Jamie and Ben Mars together. Great job, yet again!

Thanks, Linda. Jamie and Ben have a great rapport on stage; their vocals blend well and the guitar work is just great. Ask the teacher for recess; let’s see a show!

  5. Great slideshow, great song! Saw JMB in Easton, MD at the NightCat Lounge last year in May. Jamie asked me in a text msg before the show if there was anything special I wanted to hear. I asked him to play something nice for my wife, that it was our 31st anniversary. He called us out during the show, and played that song for us. Classy.

What a nice story! JMB will be in the Virginia/D.C. area next week with Ivan Neville. Any chance of your catching a show then?

I’m sorry, caryl! There’s a lot of data there. The slideshow may take a few minutes to load, but once loaded should run smoothly. Hit “play”, have a cup of something nice, then come back? Thanks!

Thanks, NolaMar! I hope they get there soon. It’ll be like home for Jamie. Isn’t the Dirty Dozen Brass Band based in Nawlins?
