Tales of Telluride, Taylor Hicks and All That Jazz: Part 1
Recap of Telluride’s Jazz Celebration held August 5-8, 2011 by Louise Uznanski. Photos courtesy of Richard Uznanski and Louise Uznanski for TaylorHicksNews.
The many thousands came for the scenery, the great food but most of all the chance to enjoy the summer weather from morning til night while being serenaded by some of the finest Jazz acts in the country. And enjoy they did. Record crowds, young and old came to Telluride for the 35th Jazz Celebration.
We met media staff Eric and Casey who worked with Todd, the chief marketing director for TJC.
We met young bands like Big Little Band (they were eating lunch at the time).
We saw headliners and young all-stars perform set after set to enthusiastic applause and overwhelming joy.

Fantastic photos — They have an ability to transport the viewer to the fun of the Jazz Festival. Not ONE bad photo. Thanks
Thank you Julie!! It was a fun festival. We didn’t want to leave. 🙂
This is wonderful!! Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us. I absolutely love the pictures of children dancing. 🙂
Thanks Tish! There were many children at this festival and they had a great time. Loved how their parents brought them to get them into real music at an early age.
Absoul~utely fantastic! Thanks for all the great photos and recaps! Looks like a great time all around!
Thank you! It was 3 days of good times!
I need to repeat a comment I think I may have made previously…..I’m SO happy that you two went to this. Your recaps and photos make us feel like we were right there with you….well, except that there’s no music/sound! 😉
Thanks Joni! What a weekend! We are glad that we got to go to this festival, too. Taylor performing is what got me to go but I got to do and see a whole lot more plus see a wowza of a TH show!!!
I love what you have done to share the Telluride experiences with those of us who follow The Man at home. I am so excited for those who were able to attend this spectacular event. Wow! An encore by popular demand after the show was closing up for the night. I love hearing the audience and their expression and joy when Taylor brought his world to them. Taylor seemed so happy to be with other musicians who shared their talents too. The little Memphis Band was right on as they become one with Taylor. What a concert and the management was so into him too. Love to see and hear people when they discover one of the greatest entertainers at his best. Thank you for your excellent photos that brighten our day too.
Thank you so much for visiting the site and for your lovely comments. Taylor, the band and the music made for an awesome night!
Great photos!
Louise, fantastic pictures from you & your Hubby. It looks like it was a great time at Telluride. I watched the Ustream show of the Concert. It was like I was there. These picture make me feel the same way!
I’m so happy that Taylor & the Band were well received. Very cool! Thanks again.
Debbie
Thanks Debbie. I’ve been away so am just seeing your comment. The UStream show was fabulous! I’m glad Taylor and the band were well received by the audience there. It was an epic night seeing Taylor with Lisa Haley, too. That was just the best!
AWH~More pics I had’t seen until now. Picture #3: the young man with his arms stretched out; is the one having such a good time when Taylor sang ‘Compared to What’. I bet he will appreciate this pic & also the video he was captured in. How Fun!!!
These young men were part of the Voodoo Orchestra. They had a smashing good time. So nice to see all of them enjoying the music at Telluride!
