Taylor Hicks, LMBO, Lisa Haley at Telluride: Taylor Goes Zydeco

Part Three of Three Parts: Taylor Hicks, Little Memphis Blues Orchestra and Lisa Haley perform ‘Seven Mile Breakdown’ recap by Louise Uznanski. Photos contributed by Richard Uznanski and Louise Uznanski.

A huge thank you to THN, Telluride Jazz Celebration and Todd A. and his staff at Telluride Jazz for being so welcoming and for the opportunity to be part of the media team for the three day Telluride Jazz Celebration. Casey and Eric and Dennis, too! You all made our time in Telluride a weekend to remember. We’ll be back!

Lisa Haley: A description of Lisa and her energy is somewhere in the dictionary and I am afraid it is listed under the combo definitions of firecracker, spitfire and cannonball. No singular word can describe what she and her electric blue fiddle bring to the stage for every second of every minute she and her band perform. Lisa’s duet with Taylor Hicks and The Little Memphis Blues Orchestra was a massive combination of fire, cannons shooting off and button-popping, foot-stomping fun. We stepped out in to the crowd for this duet because it had to be seen in it’s entirety as it unfolded up on the stage. Add to this the beautiful setting, the cool air and the crowded stage area and it becomes etched in your brain for the sheer joy it made us feel.

ENERGY, LOVE AND RESPECT, A musician’s code. You can feel it and see it in every move they make.

Thank you all for coming…….

….gonna tear the whole place down and I’ll be on my way…….TH

What a great weekend for Taylor to headline Telluride Jazz Celebration. It was a big event for him and his fans. We loved every minute of being in Colorado and seeing the sights and enjoying good music.

A recap with photos of the highlights of Telluride including photos of Taylor and others not seen to date will be up soon for those interested in prolonging the good times at Telluride!

  1. OH PLEASE ~ let us suffer through the prolonging! I can’t help but feel as if this event at Telluride is one of the best; if not The Best concert to date. Look at the crowd of new fans he was able to reach; & maybe, even a boost for next year’s event.
Kudos to Taylor & LMBO! And, Louise ~ you & hubby deserve a standing ‘O’! Thanx♥

As I read through this and admired the amazing photography AGAIN, I realized that “Seven Mile Breakdown” was playing on my Itunes from the audio I recorded from USTREAM that night….appropriate accompaniment, to put it mildly! The color in the photos is simply beautiful and thanks for sneaking in a couple of black and white shots, especially that irresistible black and white “harp” shot! 😉 A “standing O” for the Uznanskis is definitely in order!!!!

How perfect Joni! I have become a little bit of a black and white advocate (I wonder why?) so I’m glad you enjoy. The color just seemed to jump off the stage especially when Lisa Haley came on. Thanks again, Joni. I wish everyone could have seen this in person but Ustream did a more than wonderful job with the live stream.

Thank you! As the sun set and the lights were turned up, everything became brighter and more colorful. Perfect setting for a hoe down! We were so blessed to be able to go to this festival. It was epic!

  9. Being an embroidery designer & observer of artist’s stage clothing in general, I have to say thank for that shot of the back detail of that shirt. I do like to see a performer in something more than street clothing. That shirt was beautifully detailed

You’re welcome. I occasionally get a shot from this angle and this one was so unique. Rich thinks the green piping looks like mountains and the mountain flowers are embroidered above. It was a great looking shirt on stage. On the plumtv video, that shirt POPs off the screen!

  10. I’ve thought it and now I’m saying it. This is so worthy to be a DVD. OMG, it was an amazing show.

I heard talk of a DVD being made from the fans but nothing official yet from anyone ‘official.’ Telluride Jazz Celebration media certainly pulled out all the stops to make this video feed the highest quality it could be. Here’s hoping!

The photos tell a fantastic job of the happenings at Telluride. Thanks for a magnificant “photo album”. I really enjoyed Lisa’s input to the show — that little fiddle brought a rollicking sound to 7MB.

Thanks Julie. The colors from this show really added to the energy. It was karma that while Lisa and Taylor were on stage all the elements came together and created some magic, from a musical and photographic standpoint. Lisa’s amazing!
