Taylor Hicks on Tour: Westward Bound!

Rocky Mountain State Games Opening Ceremony

WHAT TO EXPECT:       

An Olympic style ceremony with parade of athletes, athletic exhibitions, a performance by Yellow Design BMX, and lighting of the flame by a celebrity athlete.  Up to 7,000 athletes and an additional 4,000-5,000 spectators will attend.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO:   

BMX team will thrill the crowd with aerial/ramp tricks; Taylor Hicks to perform a highly anticipated 3 song set toward the end of the 90 minute ceremony

Telluride Jazz Celebration

WHEN:

August 5-7; Taylor Hicks headlines the Saturday, August 6 line-up with a 7 p.m. performance

WHERE:

Telluride, Colorado on the Town Park Stage

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Taylor Hicks and the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra will perform a 90 minute set of jazz influenced rock/soul/blues.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO:

There will be multiple opportunities to see your favorite artists.  Look for surprise sit-ins during scheduled sets, and additional appearances at in-town venues for “Jazz after Dark”.  Catch performances from less well known performers; we hear Lisa Haley and the Zydekats merit a listen, for example.

Wednesday, August 17 at 8 p.m.

WHERE:

Tuolumne, California

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Expect a 90 minute set of country, rock, and blues in a general admission setting.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and you must be seated at your table in order to save your place prior to the show.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO:

The 200 person seating capacity virtually guarantees an intimate concert experience, and an opportunity to greet the artists after the show.

 

The Canyon Club

Thursday, August 18 at 8 p.m. (doors at 6)

WHERE:

Agoura Hills, California

WHAT TO EXPECT:

There’s a dance floor in front of the stage.  Be prepared to let loose and kick up your heels.  Avoid kicking your partner.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO:

This show will rock and roll.

The Flamingo Room

Friday, September 16 at 8 p.m.

WHERE:

Houston, Texas

http://bit.ly/mEoGGQ    General admission tickets are available on the main floor for $22 with limited seating available.  VIP seats upstairs, either at the sides or in the back of the balcony, are offered at $46 and $36, respectively.  OR there are two private VIP rooms at the side of the stage available for you and 9 of your friends to share for $2,000 for the evening (each room).

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Opening the show for Taylor Hicks is Mojofromopolis, a five member Houston blues band that came together from blues jams performed locally.  Known for their comfortable and playful on stage interaction, they’ll have you moving and shaking!  Listen to a song sample below:

McKinney Performing Arts Center

Celebrating 5 Years at McKinney MPAC

WHEN:

Saturday, September 17 at 8 p.m.

WHERE:

McKinney, Texas

TICKETS:

http://bit.ly/lyWxC1    General admission tickets are $41.50.  However, for a donation ranging from $50-$100, VIP patrons are guaranteed priority general admission and seating in the first few rows of the venue.  VIP ticket holders are invited to a reception with Taylor Hicks after the show.

Ticket holders are also entitled to a reduced rate at McKinney Holiday Inn and Spa.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

The McKinney Mash Up is a new vocal competition for local performers, either solo or in groups.  Finalists will compete in a live contest on September 10, and the winners of the competition will have the opportunity to open the September 17 show prior to American Idol winner Taylor Hicks’ performance.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO:

In a relatively small theater setting, that American Idol winning voice will ring true.

    Thanks for all of the details in one place. Wish I could go all the way west but I am happy to be able to go to CO, TX, and AL. Looking forward to this part of the ‘tour that never ends.’
