Carson James & Taylor Hicks: A Joyful Noise

Photography by Richard Uznanski

“I simply cannot put into words how amazing last night was… The entire night went absolutely great and it was all just perfect. Opening up for Taylor was so cool, but getting to play on stage with him made the night unforgettable.”  Carson James, December 2010

An eager audience packed Birmingham’s WorkPlay Theater to see the sixteen year old talent perform.  He played rhythm guitar, sang from his heart, and worked the crowd like a professional.  After an opening set that included both cover and his own original songs, Carson James introduced Taylor Hicks.  The Pelham teenager and American Idol performed “Superstition” together to broad smiles and sustained applause.  It was an evening of music and soul, of pure and simple joy, and it was over too soon.

In celebration of Carson (James) Sumpter.

It is astonishing that someone you’ve only heard of, or seen in a video, can rivet one’s heart. That evening was so special for Carson; as it was for those who attended that evening. Memories were made. Carson is now playing his music in Paradise.♥

What a beautful testimony to Carson and Taylor for the great guy he is! That certainly was a special moment for Carson, don’t think many would have made it as special as Taylor did for him, God Bless and keep Carson in our hearts and thoughts.

Although I didn’t get to meet Carson at WorkPlay the joy and happiness and fun were SOO evident-I remember it quite fondly-

He will be missed-but then he’s playing in the heavenly choir and one day I will see him again-

Until then sweet Carson-play on for us all!!!

Beautiful memories, yet my heart is so sad for Carson’s family. What beautiful faith in the Lord Carson and his mother shared. God be with them at this time.

  10. I wasn’t there to see Carson in person, but his happiness comes thru loud on the videos. Such a sweet person. Taylor Hicks did so much to brighten his last days. Both wonderful men.
    Thanks.
