Telluride Jazz Celebration: Day 1 Has Soul(ive)

Thunder clapped and torrential rain fell on the eve of the festival, but on Friday the sun smiled on Telluride and music filled the air. Families gathered in Town Park to celebrate the day and the 36th annual Jazz Festival. There were feathers in the hair of frolicking children, hoops encircling hips that swayed to the beat and arms raised to applaud the musicians. Read more

On the grounds of the green and well-manicured lawns of Appel Farm Arts Center in Elmer, New Jersey, the Appel Farm Arts and Music Festival took place to the wonderment of a large, enthusiastic audience on a bright and sunny June 2nd.  Performances on The Meadow and The Grove stages kept the multitudes moving from stage to stage, enjoying a 10 hour festival of roots, folk and country rock music.  Interspersed amongst the Children’s Village and the Grove Stage was a crafter’s village comprised of hand crafts made by local artisans that are included in every Appel Farm Arts and Music Festival. Life is Good Festival 2011: It All Adds Up to Fun

It’s the new math.  Take two days plus three music stages; multiply that number by thousands of smiles and raise the result to the power of optimism.  What do you get?  You get a late summer weekend of exuberant music and outdoor play shared by the very young and not so young.  You get singing, dancing, hula hoops, and seed spitting.  Dogs that jump hurdles, children that jump in sacks, musicians that jump to the beat, you get it all.  You also get more than one million dollars raised for children in need.  This was the Life is Good Festival, held September 24-25 in Canton, MA on a sultry summer weekend when families came to play and the good vibes kept the rain at bay. Tales of Telluride, Taylor Hicks and All That Jazz: Part 1

The many thousands came for the scenery, the great food but most of all the chance to enjoy the summer weather from morning til night while being serenaded by some of the finest Jazz acts in the country.  And enjoy they did. Record crowds, young and old came to Telluride for the 35th Jazz Celebration.
