Adam Ezra Group has announced that the band’s new album Ragtop Angel will be released on Tuesday, November 8.  Recorded in Los Angeles, CA and Somerville, MA, the album includes ten original songs, all written or co-written by Adam Ezra Olshansky.  The album represents the culmination of a process that began with the Group’s winning entry in the 2009 “Pick The Band” competition.  Signed to a development deal with Royal Avenue Music, the band subsequently recorded a three song EP with multi-platinum producer Aaron Johnson, best known for his work with The Fray.  Simply titled Part 1, that disc was released in September 2010 to rave reviews; “A winning combination of Americana and rock, this trio of tracks is perfect music for a laid-back sunny day…” and “…it’s surprisingly effective at whetting your appetite for more” (Brian Palmer/stereosubversion.com).  Ragtop Angel is the eagerly anticipated full length follow-up CD that features the same roots-rock music and honest delivery that characterized the three song teaser.

The album title is derived from the lyrics to Takin’ Off, the album’s fourth track.  Takin’ Off is a story of risk-taking to rise above humble beginnings, “you’re a rag-top angel, you’re amazing grace, time to gamble on the life we chase”.  Like much of Adam Ezra Group’s music, the song builds from a sense of community, referencing the rundown mill towns of New England.  The band has a strong social conscience and a refreshing commitment to community activism.  Their 501(c)(3) non-profit organization “Concerts for a Cause” funds local food banks and charities in the communities where they play.  Adam Ezra’s innovative pilot program for the public schools introduces songwriting to excited and enthusiastic groups of Boston middle school students. While the band has taken a traditional, grassroots approach to growing their audience, Adam Ezra Group has an increasing and inevitable presence on the national music stage.  The band has recently offered support for the Avett Brothers, JJ Grey and Mofro, Rusted Root, and Little Feat.  A national tour is planned for 2012 in support of Ragtop Angel.

Known for their energetic live shows, the band has scheduled two concerts/parties to celebrate the release of the new album.  Tickets are currently available for November 11 at Brighton Music Hall, Boston (http://goo.gl/dwO7v) and December 9 at Mercury Lounge, New York City (http://goo.gl/cFslu).

Ragtop Angel will be available from iTunes and other digital outlets on November 8.
